I have been thinking about prayer for a long time. Even as a seminary graduate, I still felt like I was not given permission to truly explore this spiritual practice away from the standard folding your hands and closing your eyes. I want to finally give tools to those around me that really want this connection but feel like they are doing something 'wrong."
Here are 5 more opportunities to feel that connection you are longing for:
- Adoration prayer: This involves praising and glorifying
a higher power, expressing awe and reverence for their power and majesty.
- Confessional prayer: This involves acknowledging and confessing one's mistakes and shortcomings, asking for forgiveness and guidance.
- Breath prayer: This involves repeating a short prayer or phrase in time with your breath, helping to focus and calm the mind.
- Lectio Divina: This is a form of prayer that involves reading and meditating on a particular passage or text from a religious or spiritual source.
- Creative prayer: This involves expressing oneself through art, music, or other forms of creative expression as a way of communicating with a higher power.
