The other day I was talking with a friend about the benefits of doing just a little something creative everyday and how effective it has been for me to be more peaceful throughout the day.
"Well, that's great but I am terrified of being creative. What if I can't think of anything to do?" she asked.
it got me to thinking that maybe this is something that we need to talk about more. Many people are truly AFRAID of the creative process. So I thought perhaps I should first build the case for what one can do if they battle with this feeling.
The following list talks about 5 ways to help someone who is afraid to be creative
Encourage them to start small: Encourage the person to
start with small and simple creative tasks, such as doodling or coloring,
to build confidence and feel comfortable with the creative process.
Be supportive: Let them know that you believe in their
creative abilities and are there to support them throughout the process.
Provide inspiration: Share examples of creative work
that inspires you and encourage them to explore different mediums and
techniques.
Create a safe space: Create a safe and non-judgmental
environment where the person feels comfortable expressing their creativity
without fear of criticism or failure.
Help them overcome their fears: Help the person
identify their fears and work with them to overcome these obstacles.
I have written some books and ebooks that help with establishing a creative practice - CLICK ON THE LINK for the opportunities to begin.
